Who We Are And What We Do
AYSO Region 1284 provides youth in the Genoa, Kingston, and Kirkland, Illinois, areas with quality soccer programming.
What We Believe
We adhere to the AYSO principles that promote good sportsmanship, positive coaching, balanced team, open registration, and everyone plays. We believe soccer cultivates character and builds confidence; it promotes teamwork and tolerance. We believe in offering children the opportunity to develop important skills that will serve them well as they grow into responsible adults and valued members of our community.
Where We Play
All 12U and under games are played in Genoa at either Chamberlain Park or Kiernan Park (click the “Field Locations” tab for more information). Upper Division games (14U and above) are inter-region games, with some games played in surrounding communities.
When We Play
Most games are played on Saturday mornings, with some weeknight games. A game schedule will be distributed before the season begins. Weekly practices are scheduled at the discretion of the coach. The season is eight or nine weeks long, running from August through October (sometimes into November). There are no games on Labor Day weekend.
Registration
Registration for the fall season usually begins on April 1st of each year and concludes in late May or early June. This is to allow enough time to formulate teams, schedules, order uniforms, secure coaches and other volunteers, set up insurance and field rental, etc. Registration includes a team jersey, shorts, socks, and supplemental insurance for any injury that occurs during an AYSO-sanctioned event.
Can You Help Us?
The region is run and operated exclusively by volunteers, including board members, referees, coaches, team parents, field set-up, etc. Some of these positions require very little time, some are quite involved. Please consider volunteering your time.
