Safety

Forbidden items

Jewelry, earrings, hard hair clips and barrettes
This is for safety; in the past, players have had earrings ripped from ears

Potential Risks

Dehydration - everyone needs to drink water at each break
Hot or cold - players are encouraged to tell their coach or the referee if they do not feel well
Twisted ankles or knees
Hit in head - everyone should learn about concussion injuries and how to treat

Other Rules

No slide tackles are allowed
"Heading" the ball is not allowed until the 12U level (at the earliest)
The referee may blow the whistle to stop play if a "dangerous play" condition arises
If your player has any condition which puts him/her at risk, please let your coach know as soon as possible

In case of injury (or possible injury)

If an injury occurs, all players are asked to "take a knee"
No one may enter the field unless the referee requests their presence
The referee will call the coach onto the field at his/her discretion
All teams are equipped with a first aid kit and ice packs
If your player is not feeling well after the game, please let your coach know as soon as possible
Coaches must complete an injury report for all serious injuries
